Action Alert: Submit Opponent Testimony for SB 219 (Fracking Expansion)

SB 219 is presented as legislation revising Ohio’s oil and gas laws, but the bill contains numerous provisions that would expand fracking and limit environmental oversight.

If passed, the bill could:

  • Speed up the process for fracking on Ohio public lands

  • Allow fracking within state parks and wildlife areas

  • Limit the authority of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to regulate wells, including injection and orphan wells

Several provisions were previously included in the state operating budget but were vetoed by Governor DeWine.
