Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity were present for the Young Catholic Professionals National Conference in Plano, Texas on April 10-12. The theme of the gathering was Unshakable. Sister Mary Ann Spanjers and Sister Michelle Marie Ozuna offered comments on the weekend that also included time with Sister Michelle Marie’s family in her home state of Texas. The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. Blessed Takayama Ukon, a Japanese samurai who gave up status, homeland, and even his life rather than abandon his faith, was the patron of this year’s Young Catholic Professionals National Conference entitled “Unshakeable.”
“The joy of reconnecting with a number of young adults from YCP Chapters around the U.S. was energizing! This conference was built on the five key relationships that shape a young adult’s journey, friendship, mentorship, business connections, spiritual accompaniment, and vocational accompaniment. The foundation of the conference is Jesus, through the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation.” (Sister Mary Ann Spanjers)
“It was such an honor to attend the 2026 Young Catholic Professional Conference held in Plano, Texas. There were so many holy moments to highlight between the message of the keynote speakers to the beautiful liturgies, to the faithfulness of the attendees. However, one thing that will stay with me most was how the attendees ministered to each other with such love and zeal during the St. Joseph’s workshop portion of the conference. Our young Catholic professionals truly embody the virtuous spirit of Blessed Takayama, the patron for the conference.” (Sister Michelle Marie Ozuna)
