This weekend was a very busy one for Sister Carlette as she took part in the 175th anniversary celebration for the Jesuits “Bak-a- Maatins Praise Night”. The praise and worship concert was from 6 pm – 10 pm and featured music and songs from the Belize National Orchestra (BNO), of which Sister Carlette is a member. Altogether, there were 24 pieces of music, with an intermission performed by the Ugundany Garifuna group. Parishioners, visitors, students, family, and friends filled the football field.

It was a blessed evening praising God in a community that is usually known for violence and gang activity. The concert brought fresh energy and the light of God’s words through the praise and worship.

And then on Sunday, the combined choir, which includes The Belize Chorale Society, gathered at the Belize Civic Center at 8:30 for the Anglican Bishop, Bishop Phillip Wright’s recognition service as Archbishop Primate and metropolitan of the church in the province of the West Indies. The celebration started at 10 and went on to about 1:00. The parts of the Mass were pieces created by Dr. Colville Young, the past Governor General of Belize.

It truly was a grand celebration!
