The Board of Directors of the Religious Formation Conference is pleased to announce that Mary Pat Garvin, RSM, Ph. D., will be the 2017 recipient of its Mary Emil Penet, IHM, Award. The award, presented at the Conference’s biennial National Congress, honors persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the formation, initial and/or lifelong, of vowed religious.
Sister Mary Pat has served the formation needs of religious congregations throughout the United States and internationally for over twenty-five years. Her contributions to the Religious Formation Conference have been extra-ordinary: she has written for InFormation and often presented at ForMission, Orientation to Formation, and the Life Commitment Program. At Congress 2017, Mary Pat will offer a Pre-Congress Workshop, Mentoring: A Near-Occasion of Grace. We will be delighted and honored to celebrate this generous and gifted woman religious, who most recently has served on the congregational leadership team of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, at the closing banquet of the RFC’s National Congress in November.
