Across two days of service in our Covington, Kentucky region, sisters, friends, associates and family gathered for the annual ADVENTure to Give event as we joined in prayer and prepared Blessing Bags for our neighbors in need.
Sister Mary Lynette Shelton and Sister Mary Reinette Kroeger began the Blessing Bag project several years ago for sisters, associates and staff to participate in together. Sister Mary Reinette sadly passed away this spring and her spirit of generosity continues to guide this work.
Together we donated hats, scarfs, gloves, socks, tissues, shampoo, bar soap, washcloths, water, snacks and hair combs.
We assembled 70 bags for the guests of Hosea House in Newport, KY, an organization that provides hot and nutritious meals in a warm and welcoming space.
We also prepared 40 bags for sisters and staff to keep in their cars so they can offer a Blessing Bag directly to someone experiencing homelessness whenever they meet a person in need. This simple act allows us to meet people right where they are and show they are loved and prayed for.
Thank you to everyone who donated their time and love, personal care items, snacks and water. Your kindness helped us share warmth, hope and Christ’s love this Advent and beyond.
