The Blizzard of 2026 brought more than 3 feet of heavy, wet snow to the South Shore of Massachusetts. Strong winds made conditions dangerous and difficult. It was the most severe blizzard recorded in this region.
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and Associates in the area are safe following the storm. The grounds at Catherine Spalding House were blanketed in snow, with doors, vehicles, the Peace Garden, and the backyard fully covered.
Snow removal is now underway. A team of neighbors stepped forward to take on the hard work. Their help has meant a great deal. The Community is grateful for their generosity and care.
After the Blizzard of 2026, with the side and front doors, vehicles, Peace Garden and backyard covered under more than 3 feet of heavy snow.
In recent years, the region has faced drought during the spring and summer due to limited winter snowfall. This season’s deep snow offers hope for moist soil and healthy growth in the months ahead.
Each season brings its own beauty and challenge. The Sisters give thanks for the kindness of neighbors and the promise of new life that follows winter.
