Celebrating our Bicentenary on the Feast of the Annunciation
Home
On March 25, 2026, on The Feast of The Annunciation, we Holy Union Sisters and Associates gathered at St. Mark’s Church in North Attleboro, MA to celebrate Mass and renew our vows. The Mass was celebrated by Fr. David Costa, who was joined by a number of long-time friends of Holy Union including Fathers Edmund Derosier, Edward Correia, Fred Babiczuk, Stephen Coffey, James Fitzpatrick, Richard Gill, William Joy, Richard McNally, John Oliveira. Chris Stanibula, and Matthew Gill. We were excited to welcome three new Holy Union Associates including Maureen Hayston, Patricia Allen, and Kathiann Wood.
Mass was followed by a luncheon at Lake Pearl in Wrentham, MA, where we also celebrated our Bicentenary as a congregation. All enjoyed remarks by Sisters Annemarie Egan, Tess Horvath, Carol Regan, Mary Lou Simcoe, and Mary Lou Sullivan. Sister Carol spoke on the theme “History Matters”. Sister Mary Lou Simcoe presented a visual history of the Holy Union’s first two hundred years of history. And Sr. Mary Lou Sullivan shared a recent letter from Monsignor John Joseph Williams, expressing his gratitude for our work at St. Catherine’s School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina in the 1970s, and sharing some of the long-term fruits of these years teaching African-American students during a racially troubled era.
Below you can view a video of the luncheon and associated talks, as well as a virtual scrapbook of photos from the day.
