“Be diligent in serving the poor. Love the poor, honor them, my children, as you would honor Christ Himself.”

Sister of Charity Pamela Jones Celebrates Diamond Jubilee
Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Pamela Jones is celebrating 60 years of religious life in 2025. A native of Cincinnati, she was born on May 26, 1947, at Good Samaritan Hospital—the very place she would one day return to serve as a nurse. The daughter of Thomas and Virginia Jones, Sister Pamela graduated from Seton High School and entered the Sisters of Charity immediately after graduation in 1965.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1971, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1976, both from the College of Mount St. Joseph (now Mount St. Joseph University) in Cincinnati.
Before pursuing her nursing degree, Sister Pamela ministered in education, teaching elementary students at St. Jude in Cincinnati, St. Louis in Detroit, Michigan, and St. Rose of Lima in Denver, Colorado. After completing her BSN, she returned to Good Samaritan Hospital to serve as a registered nurse from 1976 to 1981. She then went on to minister as director of St. Joseph Infant Home for two years, followed by service as a receptionist and MD assistant in a private medical practice.
From 1991 to 1999, Sister Pamela brought her nursing skills to the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse Clinic and Mother Margaret Hall. She fondly recalls the experience as “the best job I ever had.” She later returned to education as a tutor at the St. Leo Terrace Guild from 2000 to 2002, and her final ministry before retirement was as a nurse at Hospice of Cincinnati, where she served until 2010. “I have great and touching memories of my 34 years of nursing,” she reflects.
In retirement, Sister Pamela continued to give of herself, volunteering at Peaslee Neighborhood Center in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. There, she said she “felt at home” and was known for her warm, welcoming spirit and collaborative nature.Today, Sister Pamela resides at Mother Margaret Hall. She embraces the ministry of prayer, saying simply that she now devotes herself to “praying for those in need of prayerful support.”
