Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sister Mary Ann Spanjers and Sister Julie Ann Sheahan share Part Two of their sojourn spanning several states beginning now in Texas. Our Lady of Guadalupe was our constant companion.

Texas

Pecos TX was a stopping place to rest after many driving miles; The Sojourning Sisters discovered another beautiful Church! In 1924, the first church of Santa Rosa de Lima was built from stones that the parishioners hauled from as far away as 15 miles. We encountered administrative assistant for the parish Dominga Villegas, her Deacon husband and Alicia Nichols, whose father was one of the parishioners who carried stones to build the Church. They gave a tour and history of their parish. Our Lady of Guadalupe is very much part of their lives.

The next morning on the Feast of Sts Simon and Jude we found Holy Redeemer Parish in Odessa, TX. It was a blessing being with the parishioners for this early morning Eucharist. We were inspired by their faith and how the sun came up shining through their beautiful stained-glass windows.

Next, the beauty of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and parish is hard to exaggerate!

We were blessed to stop at Sister Concepcion’s parish in Midland, TX to spend time in prayer, gaze at the lovely stained-glass windows and images of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Juan Diego and have a delightful visit with the Parish pastor Fr. David Herrera. We will post on this treasured spot in the future. The love and support for Sister Concepcion Medina is everywhere!

Our Dallas destination was at the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth Retreat Center. Sisters around the world are a welcoming bunch! It was such a blessing to stay with them, pray and go to Mass with them, enjoy some meals and visiting together.
