Raksha Bandhan is a traditional Indian festival that celebrates the bond of love, care, respect, and protection between brothers and sisters. On this day, a sister traditionally ties a rakhi (a sacred or decorative thread) around her brother’s wrist. In return, the brother expresses his love and commitment to care for and support her. Gifts and sweets are also commonly exchanged.
This beautiful tradition was creatively and meaningfully celebrated by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in Vasai.
Nazareth Convent School, Vasai. organized a meaningful Rakhi celebration with sanitation workers at the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation Office on August 27, 2026.In the presence of Deputy Municipal Commissioner Mr. Suresh Patil, Sister Elizabeth Jaya Rani, the principal and teachers, the students tied Rakhis to the sanitation workers as a heartfelt gesture of respect, gratitude, and appreciation for their tireless service in keeping the city clean and healthy.
The celebration helped students understand the values of dignity of labor, civic responsibility,and respect for every profession. The sanitation workers were deeply touched by this thoughtful gesture and expressed their appreciation for the students.
