RESTORE TPS for HAITIAN IMMIGRANTSThe Department of Homeland Security terminated Temporary Protected Status for approximately 350,000 Haitians in the United States effective July 27, 2026. Holy Union Sisters in the US Area have signed this letter urging our Senators to co-sponsor and support S. 4814 which would extend TPS for Haitians for 3 years was shared earlier. Extending TPS would allow our Haitian neighbors to continue to live and work legally and safely in the United States while supporting their families and contributing to their communities. Without TPS, they face possible detention and deportation to Haiti, where rampant gang violence, food insecurity, limited access to healthcare, and the breakdown of rule of law have created dire conditions. The U.S. State Department has issued a Travel Advisory telling our citizens not to visit Haiti because of crime, kidnapping and terrorism.Public Broadcasting’s Frontline has recently made a documentary about the Haitian Deportation Crisis.
