The All-India Association of Catholic Schools held its 57th National Convention and Annual General Meeting at Christ University, Bengaluru, from Oct. 22 to 24, 2026. The gathering brought together approximately 980 priests and religious sisters involved in Catholic education from across India.

Sisters Silbiya M., Josephine Anthony, Sushila Bahanda and Prasanthi M. from the Bangalore Province participated in the convention. The theme for this year was “Nurturing Responsible Citizens: Building Justice, Peace, and Integrity through Positive Classrooms.”

Highlighting the contribution of Catholic educational institutions across India, the convention reaffirmed the mission of Catholic education to form young people in faith, character and social responsibility. Speakers explored the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that technology must be guided by human values and integrity. John Brittas, a member of Parliament from Kerala, stressed inclusive education and social justice with the inspiring message, “Educate, agitate, motivate.” The sessions addressed the importance of creating safe, positive and inclusive classrooms where every child is valued and encouraged to flourish.

For some sisters, this was their first opportunity to participate in a national-level gathering of this kind. It offered an opportunity to interact with members of other religious congregations, exchange ideas and reflect on contemporary challenges in Catholic education. The sisters express their sincere gratitude to the Bangalore Province Leadership Team for providing this opportunity to experience the wider mission of the Catholic Church in India.
