On Dec. 12 and 13, Camp Maria Retreat Center introduced a new Christmas event, The Journey to Bethlehem.

With the grounds aglow, visitors took a guided walking journey through a series of scenes. The experience began with the Annunciation and continued to the Magi on their journey, shepherds in the field, the inn with no room, and the Nativity.

Each scene featured volunteers portraying the characters in detailed costumes created by the Sew Sisters at Nazareth. A narrator guided the story, accompanied by choral music from St. Maries Musica and the St. Mary’s Ryken Knight N Gales. Animals were part of the experience at several stops.

After the walk, guests were welcomed indoors for warm drinks and cookies. A Christmas market followed, including a craft area for children. Nearly 100 volunteers shared their time and skills to bring this new event to life.
