In Colombia, on Saturday 25 April 2026, Brothers Jesús Daniel Mosquera Téllez and Juan Diego Ramírez Gualdrón, of the Lasallian District of Bogotá, will say their definitive ‘yes’ to God as Brothers of the Christian Schools.

The celebration of their Perpetual Vows will take place in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Star, at Universidad de La Salle in Bogotá, and will be attended by Brother Armin Luistro, Superior General, and Brother Rafael Cerón, General Councillor, as well as a significant group of Brothers and Lasallians from the District of Bogotá.

“God calls me to live in communion”

Brother Jesús Daniel was born in Gigante (Huila), in south-western Colombia, on 24 December 1996. He is a graduate of the Escuela Normal Superior, Gigante, where he first met the De La Salle Brothers.

With the support of his parents – Deysi Téllez and Ovidio Mosquera – he began his formation at the Postulancy of San José de Guausa (Chía, Cundinamarca) in January 2015. He subsequently continued his vocational journey at the Pre-Novitiate at the Liceo Hermano Miguel in Bogotá, and entered the Novitiate in Costa Rica on 8 December 2017. Between 2019 and 2021, he completed his Scholasticate, once again in Bogotá, joining the communities of the District Educational Institutions Juan Luis Londoño first, and later Rogelio Salmona, whilst completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education at Universidad de La Salle.

“My convictions as a Lasallian religious stem from the certainty that the Triune God calls me to live in communion, to make my life a gift to others and to proclaim his love, especially through education”, says Brother Jesús Daniel.

“I believe deeply in the dignity of every person, in the transformative power of education, and in fraternity as a concrete way of making the Kingdom of God visible”, he adds.

That is why, as a religious educator, he wishes to be a sign of hope for the poorest children and young people: “I long to form sensitive hearts, critical minds and spirits open to God; I dream of educational communities where fraternity, justice and care for life are breathed, where every student discovers they are loved and capable of transforming their reality. I also dream of an authentic, community-based life, where daily sharing is a witness to faith, joy and dedication, because ‘our greatest secret and treasure is being Brothers’”.

These dreams have taken shape in the various educational institutions where he has served as a teacher and pastoral coordinator, such as the Politécnico Álvaro González Santana  in the city of Sogamoso between 2022 and 2024, and now at the Institución Educativa Dante Alighieri in San Vicente del Caguán – in the Colombian Amazon – where he serves as Coordinator of Coexistence and Human Development.

“To inspire a desire to live and love life, to discover that we are brothers and sisters”

For his part, Brother Juan Diego is originally from the border town of Cúcuta, near Venezuela, where he was born on 10 March 1999. There he studied at the Institución Educativa Sagrado Corazón de Jesús – run by the Brothers of the Christian Schools – from which he graduated with a Technical Baccalaureate in Multimedia Design and Integration in 2015.

He entered the Postulancy in 2016 – also in San José de Guausa – and spent the following two years in the Pre-Novitiate at the Liceo Hermano Miguel. In January 2019, he began his year of formation at the Novitiate in Costa Rica

After carrying out his educational and pastoral ministry in the communities of Juan Luis Londoño (2020), Rogelio Salmona (2021) and the Liceo Hermano Miguel (2022), during his Scholasticate, when he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education, Br. Juan Diego was a teacher and coordinator at the Institución Educativa Dante Alighieri.

He is currently a member of the Brothers’ Community in Tijuana, Baja California (Mexico), where he teaches at the Centro de Formación Integral La Salle, linked to the Leavening Movement.

“At this stage of my life, I have decided to consecrate myself to God ‘entirely’ and for the rest of my life”, states Brother Juan Diego with conviction, recalling an inspiring phrase attributed to Fyodor Dostoevsky: “The secret of human existence lies not merely in living, but in knowing why one lives”.

“After my experience in El Caguán and the one I am living in Mexico, what allows me today to consecrate myself to God for the rest of my life is knowing why I live, it is knowing that I have the chance to inspire others with the desire to live and love life, to dream and work towards those dreams, to build and grow with others, to stop seeing one another as enemies and discover that we are brothers, to raise awareness that another world is possible, that another Colombia is possible”, continues the young religious.

“I deeply hope that my life as a Brother will continue to be that answer to the question of why I live and, in this way, continue to be, perhaps for someone, a reason to live and to hope”, concludes Br. Juan Diego.

As Lasallians, we give thanks to God, together with the District of Bogotá, for the final profession to the Lord of Brothers Jesús Daniel Mosquera and Juan Diego Ramírez. We ask Saint John Baptist de La Salle to intercede so that their evangelical and vocational journeys may continue to be strengthened, from commitment to commitment.
