Justice and Peace Issues

ONE WEEK. ONE ACTION. A GLOBAL CATHOLIC RESPONSE“From Hope to Action” is the invitation of Laudato Si’ Week, from May 17 to 24 marking the 11th anniversary of the publication of Pope Francis’s Encyclical. The encyclical calls humanity to care for our common home and embrace integral ecology. This year Catholics across continents will once again respond together — not just with words, but with action. It is more than an anniversary. It is a renewed invitation to:– Pray deeply– Reflect honestly– Act concretelyEvery parish, school, university, hospital, movement, religious community, family, and individual is invited to participate.Hope in ActionIn a world facing ecological crisis and social fragmentation, hope is not passive optimism — it is a decision to act.The Core Invitation: Take One Concrete ActionThe invitation is intentionally simple: Choose one action. Make it count during this week. That action might be:

  • Reducing energy use in your home
  • Hosting a prayer service or dialogue
  • Reviewing purchasing practices
  • Beginning a long-term sustainability commitment
  • Caring for a local ecosystem
  • Something else? The power is not in perfection. The power is in participation.

HOW IT WORKS:Choose One Action. Discern a concrete step aligned with your reality.Make It Count During Laudato Si’ Week Carry it out between May 17–24, 2026. That ‘s it. One action — multiplied globally.WHY THIS WEEK MATTERSAs we read in Laudato Si’: “Hope would have us recognize that there is always a way out… that we can always do something.” (LS 61). Laudato Si’ Week transforms hope into visible action. It reminds us that ecological conversion is not abstract — it is lived through daily choices, community commitments, and institutional courage.Together, this can become a worldwide testimony.Don’t Let This Week Pass Without Taking One Step. Laudato Si’ Week 2026 is not about doing everything. It is about doing something — together.Enroll and Add Your Action
