At Jyoti Bhavan in Mokama, students recently stepped away from their regular classroom lessons to consider some of the choices shaping their lives, from how they use a phone to how they care for the planet and one another.
Sister Elizabeth Lobo shares a glimpse of the program, where students in Classes VII, VIII and IX explored digital citizenship, care for creation and mental well-being.
“The session was meaningful and enriching, giving students valuable lessons for everyday life,” Sister Elizabeth writes.
Here is her account:
A seminar was organized for students of Classes VII, VIII and IX on Aug. 8, 2026, at Jyoti Bhavan in Mokama. Father A. Sebastian served as the resource person.
The seminar focused on three important themes: digital citizenship, responsibility toward our planet, and a healthy mind and happy life. Father Sebastian encouraged students to use digital media wisely and remain alert to cybercrime. He urged them to contribute to a green, plastic-free school campus and adopt environmentally responsible practices, including the use of solar energy.
Speaking about mental health, Father Sebastian encouraged students to share their feelings, thoughts and worries with teachers or trusted adults. He also stressed the importance of empathy, respect for others, reduced screen time and regular physical activity.
He briefly highlighted the importance of career development and making responsible choices for the future.
The session offered students practical lessons they can carry into everyday life. Father Sebastian concluded with three words for the students to remember: “I want, I can, I will.”
