The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth celebrated the Mass for the Care of Creation on Sept. 1 at St. Vincent de Paul Church at Nazareth, marking the first day of the Season of Creation.
The Mass for the Care of Creation was recently added to the Roman Missal and reflects themes found in *Laudato Si’*, Pope Francis’ encyclical on care for our common home.
The liturgy calls Catholics to consider our responsibility for creation through the lens of integral ecology, recognizing the connections among care for people, the earth, water, animals and the communities in which we live.
The celebration offered Sisters, Associates and friends an opportunity to begin the Season of Creation together in prayer and reflection while considering ways each person can respond to the call to care for creation.
