Associate candidates make commitments with IHM Sisters
On September 14, William (Bill) Conner of Monroe, Michigan, and Maureen Sims of South Lyon, Michigan, celebrated their commitments as IHM Associates with the congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM).
The associate ceremony, known as the “Rite of Commitment,” took place at the IHM Motherhouse. On their journeys to become IHM Associates, Bill and Maureen each had a vowed companion helping them along the way. Elizabeth Walters, IHM, served as Connor’s vowed companion, and Annette St-Amour, IHM, served as Sims’ vowed companion.
Each new associate shared a journal with their companion, providing a framework for delving into the congregation’s history and gaining knowledge, and experiencing the charisma of the IHMs. Conner and Sims each stated they felt honored to be an IHM Associate.
Associates are men and women who have come to identify with the spirit, life and mission of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary community. While maintaining their lifestyles, IHM Associates choose to covenant with the Monroe IHM Sisters for a specific and renewable period of time, focusing primarily on areas of their choice, including prayer, community, and/or ministry.
