In February, Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Montiel Rosenthal, MD, is serving in Guatemala on a medical mission trip alongside residents and volunteers. In an ongoing journal series, she reflects on daily encounters, challenges, and moments of connection that unfold as the team accompanies patients and communities throughout the week.
The medical mission team is from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Sister Montiel is present as faculty for the medical students and family medicine residents.
For the last 20 years, Sister Montiel has been a member of the core residency faculty for The Christ Hospital/University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Residency program. She is also a member of her congregation's leadership team.
