A Lousy Day… Turned AroundWritten by: Sister Mary Margaret Droege

I sit on the edge of my bed and announce,“What a lousy day!What a lousy day!”Roaring thunder last night,Much rain predicted today.The sky a solid grey,“What a lousy day!What a lousy day!”

SuddenlyI imagine God listening. What does God think of my proclamation?Eons agoHe proclaimed all he created “Good!”

Who am ITo reverse His declarationWho am ITo announceThe ultimate evaluation on a dayBecause it’s not to my liking? Are my wordsThe ultimate declaration of the day?

So,Sorry, God,I didn’t mean to offend YouOr be the ultimate evaluatorOf conditions outside my window. But You have to admitThe outside conditions todayAre generallyNot the favorite of us creaturesMade in Your image and likeness.

So, I’ll live peacefully todayAs I don’t have to travelTo be sprinkled or peltedWith those many water drops.

I’ll live peacefully todayAnd stay inside.I’ll live peacefully todayClose my shades;Fill my room with cheerful music;Use markers and colored pencils;Do some reading;Or work a jigsaw puzzle. My day will be brightand a smile will be on my face.
