On July 19, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and Associates in New England joined the Congregation across the world in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Louise de Marillac, and Catherine Spalding. In a special way, the Western Province united with the SCN-LCWR Day of Prayer. Sisters Anne Marie and Ann welcomed all with warm hospitality. It was the first time gathering in 2025.

The group came together in gratitude for the gifts of community and to honor Sister Ann Susan Villa on her 90th birthday and in anticipation of her 70th anniversary of profession. Prayers and blessings were offered for Sister Ann Susan, who shared a Litany of Remembrance for the many Sisters with whom she had lived and ministered over seven decades. During the prayer, members also remembered those in the community who died recently and siblings who suffer in war or have been disappeared.

Participants shared personal experiences from the past year while enjoying a meal with fresh salads from the garden, handmade birthday chocolate pops by Sue Ballard, SCNA, and cake. The day included laughter, conversation, and writing cards to Sisters in Kentucky who were once part of the area.

The group looks forward to gathering again before the end of the year. As seasons and climates shift around the world, they continue to hold one another and the planet in care and promise.
