Sister Mary Joan Terese Niklas, SND January 2, 1937 – December 16, 2025Professed August 16, 1958

Sister Joan Terese entered the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1955 and professed vows in 1958. Her ministry spanned decades of service, including 15 years in education, teaching in Ohio and Kentucky. She later served as a director of religious education, supporting faith formation in several local parishes.

She also ministered for more than eight years at Gateway Community and Technical College. She worked with special needs students, particularly within the deaf community and went on to serve in prison ministry.

From 2005 through 2019, she served as archivist for the Covington Region of the Sisters of Notre Dame, preserving the history of the congregation.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at St. Agnes Church, Ft. Wright, Kentucky. The Rite of Remembrance Service will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in the convent cemetery will follow the Mass.
