Sister Patricia (St. Julianna) Kerz, BVM, 93, of Mount Carmel Bluffs, Dubuque, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026.
Visitation will be from 9-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, in the Mary Frances Clarke Chapel at Mount Carmel Bluffs. Sharing of Memories will be at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Sister Patricia was an elementary teacher in Iowa at Sacred Heart, Davenport; in Illinois at St. Joseph, Rock Island; St. Anne, East Moline; St. Peter, Antioch; St. Gertrude and Holy Name, Chicago; and in Nebraska at St. Bridget, Omaha. She ministered as the director of religious education in Illinois at St. Peter in Antioch, and St. Anne in Moline. She volunteered at parish and neighborhood ministry sites in Chicago including at Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Sister Patrica was born on May 21, 1933, in Chicago to Arthur and Julia (Weishaar) Kerz. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1951, from St. Hilary Parish, Chicago. She professed first vows on March 19, 1954, and final vows on July 16, 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Donald (Rita) Kerz. She is survived by two nieces, a nephew, and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 75 years.
