This week, amidst beautiful late-summer weather, Sisters gathered in the gazebo at Nazareth for a prayerful meditation about the Season of Creation, specifically the theme “Peace with Creation”. Sister Sharon Gray and Director of Ecological Sustainability Carolyn Cromer led the group through prayers and reflections about how we can act more justly, be voices for the marginalized, and better care for Earth.
Sisters sat in silence to be with the world around them, then shared with one another what they heard, saw, and felt. Many Sisters commented on the trees around the gazebo and the vibrant colors of the natural world. One sister said, “I think that this wonderful luscious air and the beautiful blue sky, and all that we have embracing us really, is a seductive measure on God’s part to make us tender, make us open to the message of the Spirit that might be stirring in us, individually and as a group, to do something, somewhere, somehow. We can’t just receive and not do something.”
Sisters listened to the song “Canticle of the Sun” and planted flower seeds, “seeds of justice”, in pots to take home or share with others.
