The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth recently contributed $437 toward a Thanksgiving Food Drive. This monetary gift helped purchase food items for the drive on behalf of Sisters and community members unable to shop in person. Their generosity reflects the spirit of gratitude and compassion that defines this season and their mission to serve those in need.

Hosted by Nazareth’s Office of Mission Advancement, the Thanksgiving Food Drive runs Nov. 3–14, 2025, in Nelson County to support families facing food insecurity ahead of the holiday. Across Kentucky, many households continue to struggle due to reduced food-assistance benefits and economic uncertainty, placing additional strain on local food pantries.

Community members are encouraged to join in by donating specific, nonperishable food items, including:

  • Canned vegetables (corn, green beans, carrots, peas)
  • Canned sweet potatoes
  • Bagged marshmallows
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Boxed stuffing mix
  • Turkey gravy (can or jar)
  • Canned cranberry sauce
  • Boxed macaroni and Velveeta cheese
  • Canned pumpkin or pie mix

All items must be unopened and unexpired. Donations may be dropped off at Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, 40 West Drive, Nazareth, Kentucky, at the O’Connell Hall front desk between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

These Thanksgiving staples will be distributed to families in need ahead of the holiday, alongside a turkey giveaway made possible through funds raised during the 2025 Give for Good campaign.
