This Christmas at Nazareth Academy in Gaya brought together 50 Mahadalit children from six supplementary education centers, including Kazichak, for a celebration many had never experienced.
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth invited the children to the academy and provided each child with a new winter coat and hat to meet seasonal needs.
A Christmas message was shared by parishioner and Associate, Rajani Kindo, SCNA. Nazareth alumna Surbhi Kumari reflected on the day’s meaning. “It was not just a celebration, but a lesson in the true spirit of Christmas,” she said. “Seeing the children smile, laugh and celebrate together showed that Christmas lives in compassion, not in privilege.”
Sister Roselyn helped welcome the children and guide the gathering, which included cake, simple treats, and time together.
The coats, caps and refreshments were made possible through the generosity of Nazareth alumni. Surbhi noted that the lasting impact went beyond the gifts. “More than the jackets or the cake, it was the feeling of belonging that mattered most,” she said.
