Saint Luke Institue (SLI) President & CEO, Rev. Patrick J McDevitt, CM, PhD, issued the following statement at 12:30 p.m. ET to members of the SLI Board of Directors and staff:
Just several hours ago, there was a shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis while the school children were attending Mass. The Saint Luke Institute community joins in solidarity and in prayer with the victims of this violence, in the spirit of our mission of healing and peace. It is in these painful moments that I am reaffirmed in the importance of what we do here at SLI in transforming anger into peace, and trauma into new hope. This work continues to be needed, now more than ever. We are often reminded in our work that one healed soul will bring healing to the many. Let this moment remind us once again that our ministry of healing is so needed in this world. Let us be united in prayer and peaceful action for the end to gun violence, and all forms of violence.
