Susan Kilb, SCN, 79, (formerly Sister Mary Christa) was born March 13,1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Robert Joseph Kilb and Edna Maie Bicklmeir. She died January 1, 2026, in Louisville, KY. She was a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 58 years.
After completing the SCN Formation program at Nazareth in 1970, Sister Susan began teaching English and History at La Salette Academy in Covington, KY.
Sister Susan served in education for most of her life. In 1975, she lived in Memphis, TN., at the Little Flower Convent and taught at Memphis Catholic High School. She later taught History and English at Our Lady of Nazareth High School in Wakefield, MA. She was the director of school programs at Lac Viet Academy in Louisville.
For 12 years, Sister Susan taught Social Studies at Presentation Academy in Louisville. She remained at Presentation Academy as a volunteer until her retirement in 2018. In 2021, she received Presentation Academy’s Tower Award, recognizing her as a Leader in Education.
Later, after completing graduate studies in School Administration at Spalding University, she began serving as vice-principal and teacher at Bethlehem High School in Bardstown, Ky.
She served her Sisters in the SCN Community as well. She volunteered in the Community Service department at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She also served as the director of SCN Ministry Fund.
Sister Susan is survived by her extended family and her SCN Community.
The funeral arrangements for Sister Susan are as follows:
· An Honor Guard will form in front of the Motherhouse at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7. Sister Susan’s Wake will follow that evening at 6:30 p.m. in St. Vincent de Paul church.
· The Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, in the church, with burial to follow in the Nazareth Cemetery.
· Services will be streamed at nazareth.org/live.
