In January, Jolaine States, SCH, arrived in Belize to join the Sisters at the SCN Belize City House for collaboration, community, and service.
Sister Jolaine is a member of the same community as Sister Kerry Rowland, who lives with Sister Carlette in Belize City. They are both members of the Sisters of Charity of Halifax.
This is Sister Jolaine’s third trip to collaborate with St. Martin’s School. Each year, Sister Jolaine stays for one month to share her gift of clinical psychology. She offered some educational sessions to the teachers and counselors, and she worked with some of the children. She wrote reports for those children, which will assist the teachers and principal in knowing how to serve them better.
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth would like to thank Sister Jolaine States for choosing Belize to continue her ministry and connecting with the Belizean people! Her services would have cost the school about $20,000 BZ, but all this was done for free. Thank you, Sister Jolaine!
Sister Kerry continues to work in the school’s library. She has increased the amount of books and the number of students coming into the library. Her warm presence is a welcoming treasure to the children and even the teacher, who looks to her for hugs, advice, a listening ear, and a good book. Sister Kerry has served in Belize since 2018.
