Sister Brenda Gonzales shares the following.
The Walk for Peace is a long-distance pilgrimage across the United States led by Buddhist monks who walk from Texas to Washington, D.C. The walk calls attention to peace, compassion, nonviolence, and care for one another. Along the route, the monks move quietly through towns and cities, offering a visible reminder that peace begins with daily actions and shared responsibility.
Sister Brenda Gonzales shared a photo from her sister Anna, Anna’s daughter Jenny, and granddaughter Alyssa waiting along the road in Spotsylvania, Virginia, as the monks passed by. Another niece planned to greet the walkers in Arlington, just miles from Washington. The moment shows how the walk brings people together.
The Walk for Peace matters because it invites reflection, dialogue, and public witness. Its focus on peace, justice, and respect for human dignity closely aligns with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth’s commitment to work for peace and justice in solidarity with those on the margins.
