Theology

This bibliography serves as a tool to systematically document the rapidly expanding corpus of academic literature produced over the past twelve years (covering the pontificate of Pope Francis). It catalogues a growing number of scholarly publications on synodality from 2013 to march 2026, initially in four languages (English, French, German, Spanish), with later also Italian. The inclusion of Italian-language contributions, especially for the years 2024 and 2025, adds to the richness of this bibliography covering even more articles and including a productive theological community. In total, the bibliography now comprises approximately 2,000 entries. The publications are ordered, firstly, per year, and secondly, on alphabetical order. A methodological introduction explains and justifies the choices that have been made. Amongst other things, the bibliography shows a stunning growth in the number of publications. This sixth version of the bibliography was updated up to and including March 2026.
