The Istituto Convitto Jesus Magister (ICJM) of the Brothers of the Christian Schools operated until the end of the 1970s as a training institution for the Brothers of the Institute and other religious congregations.
In its current version, based on the guidelines of the Superior General and the General Council of the Institute, ICJM has broadened its target audience, partnering with Lasallian institutions of higher education, and acting as a platform for ongoing professional development, formation and research throughout the worldwide network of Lasallian institutions.
In this regard, around professional development and training, “the Consortium has identified existing short-term programmes, which also offer certificates, diplomas, or advanced degrees, encouraging Brothers and lay partners to take part, and, subsequently, to obtain the corresponding academic certification”.
These programmes focus on four areas:
a. Lasallian Studies and Lasallian Formation.
b. Leadership Development.
c. Education and Pedagogy.
d. Catechesis / Catechetical accompaniment.
“Through the programmes that are disseminated or animated by ICJM, we hope to develop a greater sense of belonging among the members of our global network, as these programmes offer a deep focus on the diverse ways in which members of our network contribute to the transformation we seek”, comments Ronald Holmes, Director of the Institute’s ICJM Consortium Office.
