On Tuesday 20 May at 16:00 Rome time / 11:00 Argentina and Paraguay time, it will take place the presentation of the book “La Salle, narraciones biográficas a varias voces”, written by Brother Hernán Santos González, from the District of Argentina-Paraguay, who is currently the Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University.
The event will be broadcast on the social networks of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the Lasallian Region of Latin America (RELAL) and the District of Argentina-Paraguay. His author will take part in the event, as well as the Visitor of his District, Brother Nicolás Chamorro, and Brother Santiago Rodríguez Mancini, Director of the Office of Lasallian Heritage and Research, and Director of the Generalate in Rome.
About the work
The book brings together the views of different personalities in the life of the Founder and offers, therefore, different ways of getting to know his life and work. According to Brother Hernán, the book offers “a journey through the life of John Baptist de La Salle from different stories, without claiming to be a biography, but rather a polyphonic history, a narrative which combines historical characters, contexts and anecdotes“.
“This way of narrating also has another intention: to provide a more friendly reading that may help to get to know the person behind the founder of the Christian Schools, through a more human and ordinary gaze”, adds the author.
At the end of each chapter there is a short guide for personal and community reflection, which aims to “foster encounters, first, with the life of Saint John Baptist de La Salle; then, with other male and female companions on the journey who also seek to commit themselves to the education of those most in need”.
