The Board of Directors and staff of Saint Luke Institute (SLI) join in prayers with the Catholic community across the world in celebrating the election of Cardinal Robert Prevost, O.S.A., as Pope Leo XIV.
In his remarks given immediately after his election, the new Pope said he hopes that the Church, following the example of Christ and of the late Pope Francis, will be “a Church that … always strives to be close especially to those who suffer,” and he expressed his prayer and desire that all may “walk together” and “build bridges through dialogue and encounter.”
With these words, Pope Leo highlighted the Gospel value of care for those in need, and a pastoral attitude of accompaniment. These are mission values which all of us at SLI strive to live daily in our care for clergy, religious, and all those seeking mental health and spiritual care support in a Catholic context.
As we all walk together on the pilgrim journey with the new Pope, may these Gospel values inspire us each day to be full of care and attention to those in need and those who walk the journey of healing with us.
