A few years ago, SCN Human Resources initiated an Employee Appreciation Week. Activities have included fun dress days, catered lunches, donuts, bingo, and sports competitions.
Last week saw a high participation in the special week’s activities with prizes such as tickets to sporting events, flower baskets, and more.
Human Resources also introduced the SCN General Store at Nazareth. The store has snacks, drinks, and SCN apparel for employees.
Human Resources Director Rachel Lyvers said the week allows employees to feel valued, as well as provides workers with a chance for departments to socialize outside of work duties. “Seeing everybody enjoy themselves and the camaraderie and just enjoy having conversations outside of work things is important,” she said.
Rachel said they try to have some kind of event each month, such as the Derby Party, holiday parties, and awareness days for mental health, breast cancer, and Alzheimer’s.
SCNA Office Assistant Kaylee Morris just celebrated her two-year work anniversary at Nazareth. She said, “When it comes to Nazareth, employee appreciation is not simply an annual reminder, but a core value that is reflected day-to-day at Nazareth. That being said, Employee Appreciation Week serves as a bigger thank you to all employees. It is a reminder that at the end of the day, though we work in separate buildings and in different parts of the mission, we carry the Charity charism with us. And that’s something that doesn’t leave us.”
