On March 11, 2025, a new chapter began in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, as the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Bangalore Province, stepped onto the vibrant soil of the eastern state with a mission fueled by joy and purpose. Sisters Amal Rani and Celine Vadacherry settled into the freshly established convent at Loyola School, Gothapatna, with a partnership with the Jesuits of Jamshedpur Province. The crescendo came on March 22, 2025, with the grand inauguration of Loyola School, Gothapatna—a unit of XIM University, Bhubaneswar.
Blessed by the Most Rev. Archbishop John Barwa, SVD, and inaugurated by the Rev. Fr. Jerome Cutinha, SJ, Provincial of Jamshedpur Province, and Sister Jackulin Jesu, SCN, President of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, this ceremony marked more than an opening. It heralded the shared vision of Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and Jesuits to shape young minds into forces of intellect, integrity, and compassion.
The presence of Sister Mary Margaret Nirmala, SCN, Provincial, Bangalore Province, and Sister Vijaya Chalil, SCN, Vice-Provincial, at this milestone event added joy to the occasion. Sister Bincy Joseph, SCN, is expected to join this new mission shortly. As the Sisters bring their hearts for service, this is more than a mission for us; it’s a movement of hope, and a way forward for our future collaborations. We offer our blessings to all in Loyola School, Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar.
